Mary Katherine Scott is a writer and researcher based in Laramie, Wyoming. Her fiction will appeal to women who enjoy stories that make them think, but crave a touch of magic: a familiar world where fantastical possibilities lie just beyond our sight lines. Her academic background in art history and anthropology makes her a lover of details, dedicated to world-building and creating characters that could walk off the page. Her first novel, A Life Unseen, is a genre-bending romantic fantasy about giving love another chance, even when life takes an unexpected turn.

Formerly a university instructor, Mary Katherine’s other, scholarly writings have appeared in diverse, peer-reviewed publications. She received her BFA in visual art from the University of Wyoming, followed by graduate degrees in Spanish (M.A. University of Wyoming), Art History (M.A. Northern Illinois University), and World Art Studies (Ph.D. University of East Anglia, UK). Her academic studies offered her the chance to live and conduct fieldwork in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the UK, but she found that the more she studied the visual world, the deeper her passion became for creating her own worlds with words. Her writing is inspired by these cherished experiences traveling and living abroad, as well as by the beauty of the Wyoming landscape and the people who call this great state home.
